Four Years in the Fast Lane
Central Auto Auction Accelerates Ahead

February 23, 2010-Hamden, CT---Central Auto Auction recently commemorated 4 years of success since raising the gates on its first lane February 26, 2006. Since its untimely opening on the brink of an industry saga, Central has triumphantly managed to dodge an unprecedented incidence of auto trade woes, including government bailouts, President Obama’s failed “cash for clunkers” program, and today’s sizzling scandal surrounding Toyota recalls. “Despite what’s going on in the world, Central has a solid foundation from which to build our business,” says President and Founder, Peter Saldamarco. Saldamarco attributes the company’s sturdy survival rate to working within a conservative business context, including no incurred debt and cautious credit extension guidelines, as well as unsurpassed customer service and a sound work ethic.

Besides a stringent business framework, Central continues to reinforce its revenue structure with the addition of on-line sales platforms, such as OVE.com, a weekly sealed bid sale in 2009, and the upcoming implementation of simulcast auction broadcast technology which will allow users to bid on vehicles via the internet utilizing “real time” audio and video from the weekly live auction. Aside from an abundance of new car dealers, Central also continues to build an arsenal of commercial accounts, including fleet, lease, repo, municipal and charity vehicles. Central offers approximately 250 vehicles per week to a consistent audience of between 150 and 200 bidders each week.

Central Auto Auction’s four-year milestone was marked with a traditional Anniversary Sale featuring a “State of the Industry Address” by Peter Saldamarco and a “mini” Auto Trade Show with representation from OVE.com, Guardian Warranty Company, AFC Automotive Floor Plan Company and United Consumer Finance. The top buyer (Barry Lewis, A&P Used Cars) and top seller (Chris Samperi, Colonial Toyota) for 2009 were also honored with an awards presentation. Those in attendance enjoyed a complimentary lunch curbside from The Big Green Truck Pizza (biggreentruckpizza.com) serving up gourmet pizza straight out of a 1947 International former fire truck, fully restored and equipped with an authentic Italian brick pizza oven.
