On February 11, CitiFinancial Auto presented Carolina Auto Auction with its Auction of the Year Award in Denver, Colorado. There to receive the award were the owners of Carolina Auto Auction, Henry and Patty Stanley, as well as the General Manager Tommy Rogers and the National Remarketing Manager Sal Terranova. Henry Stanley accepted the award with much gratitude to CitiFinancial Auto for giving them the chance to make good on his promise to Layne Weber, that if given the chance Carolina Auto Auction would be number one for CitiFinancial Auto.
Carolina has won numerous top-performing auction awards, but this award from CitiFinancial Auto is very special to them. “We know that to some degree, CitiFinancial Auto gave us the initial trial run in October of 2007 just to get us off their backs,” Sal Terranova remarked. “We were persistent in asking for their inventory. We knew we could be number one. They gave us the opportunity. And for that, we say thank you.”
Carolina Auto Auction placed number one ahead of Manheim’s Portland Auto Auction which had won the award for multiple years in a row. In a very humorous video created by Portland and shown at the awards ceremony, Portland jokingly said, “Portland is still the best. Carolina cheated on the test.”
Tommy Rogers was able to laugh along with the rest of the audience at the playful ribbing. “The truth is,” Rogers said, “being an independent auction allows us to make quick responses in the ever-changing auction environment.” He continued, “Every auction functions in a similar way – processing and preparing vehicles for sale to their dealer base. It is our effectiveness in offering exceptional service and letting the dealer know that he matters that has allowed us to attain the successes we have known and continue to strive for excellence as we move forward.”
In summing up his thoughts on Carolina Auto Auction’s continued success, owner Henry Stanley commented, “I have been known to say, ‘all auctions are similar. At Carolina Auto Auction it is the Employees that make the difference.’ And it’s true. It’s what makes Carolina Auto Auction ‘The Right Choice.’”
