2009 National Auto Auction Week

Dear NAAA Member:

Born from the entrepreneurial spirit meeting a consumer need in the
Great Depression, nurtured in the free market, and safeguarded by
an association of colleagues, the auto auction industry has grown to
become a vital part of North America’s commerce. Last year you and
your fellow members sold more than 9.48 million vehicles worth
$83.1 billion in gross revenue.

In addition to that major economic impact, auto auction members like you contribute to the wellbeing of individual communities across the continent by generously sharing your success through public service and philanthropic activities. In 2008 members raised $1.8 million in donations for a variety of
local causes.

We at the NAAA are proud of the positive role our members play in making a difference in both the national economy and the local community. President Bob McConkey has designated August 24-28, 2009, as “National Auto Auction Week” to increase the public’s awareness of the industry and its contributions to society.

“This special week celebrates our industry’s seven decades of entrepreneurship, financial success and community service,” McConkey said. “We encourage you to use this time to thank your loyal customers, recognize your outstanding employees and renew your commitment to the community with a variety of events and activities. I would urge you to invite your governor, mayor or other elected leaders to give this week their stamp of approval with an official proclamation.”

You’ll find a sample letter requesting a proclamation, along with celebration materials available online to help you kick off this event, and keep it running strong all week.

National Auto Auction Week activities can be the center of your marketing efforts. So please use these materials to promote your business and get the word out to the public about what you do for the community. And it’s the perfect time to say “Thank You” to your dealers and employees. National Auto Auction Week provides an excellent opportunity to show your appreciation for the people who contribute to the success of your auction.

Of course, however you choose to celebrate this exciting week, remember, the most important thing is to have fun!

Best Wishes for a Great National Auto Auction Week,
